FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is a non-profit organization that aspires to “transform culture and make science, math, engineering, and technology as cool for kids as sports are today.” Operating in the US and internationally, FIRST organizes a variety of programs and competitions such as FIRST Robotics, FIRST Lego League, and FIRST Tech Challenge that make science, technology, and engineering accessible to young people while providing opportunities for confidence building and life skills. The FIRST culture centers not around winning, but around gracious professionalism, a way of doing things that combines “knowledge, competition, and empathy.”
This year we will be participating in the Silicon Valley Regional Competition (3/29 – 3/31) and a competition in Portland (3/8 – 3/10). Click here for more information about regional competitions from FIRST.
